The CVYC relationship to Sandy Island is defined by a single word: Stewardship. As a Club, our members contribute in real and practical ways to both celebrate and protect Sandy Island.

Every spring we sail over to the park to do an annual clean up on the island, followed by a BBQ.   From mid-June to the Labour Day in September, Club members who have volunteered to be the weekend Host, tie up to the buoy (installed for our use), and meet with other park users. 

Among the supplies (T-shirts, hats, gloves, cleaning products) provided to each Host, is a daily Logbook for recording the number and type of boaters and campers. This statistical information assists BC Parks in assessing the park’s needs.

By displaying our Park Host flags and distributing information, we help park users enjoy this beautiful area with the most minimal possible impact on the environment.
